When you walk through the doors of Salt & Light, you will see many people working throughout the store. In addition to our staff, there are:
- credit-earning participants
- people completing community service hours
- students in job training programs
- community volunteers (both individuals and in groups)
It takes the gifts and energy of ALL of these volunteers to live out our mission. As a relational ministry, your unique story and abilities are seen and appreciated. We are grateful for each and every one of our incredible volunteers!
We invite you to join us in changing lives and transforming our community by volunteering in our stores. There is a place for you here.  There are no minimum volunteer hour requirements and we work with you to find a volunteer role that works best for your interests and abilities. Whether you can volunteer for an hour or stay for the day, we’d love to have your help! Every volunteer starts by attending a new volunteer orientation. These happen:
Urbana: Mondays from 12 – 1 pm (in Lobby)Â
Champaign: Thursdays from 6 – 7 pm (in the classroom)
If your church/community group would like to volunteer together, we can arrange that for you. Contact Lisa Sheltra to make group arrangements.

Hi I would like to volunteer for my community service and I was wondering if I just show up for orientation of how I go about it.
Hi Maricela! All community volunteers, including those completing community service hours, start by attending a volunteer orientation. These happen twice a week. Mondays at noon in Urbana and Thursdays at 6pm in Champaign.
